Union Learning RepsScheme of WorkWeek 1On the first day of the course you will share you initial thoughts and feelings with the rest of the group and get to know one another. You will look at what members, trade unions and employers have to gain from investing in learning. You will then think about the many and varied things that stop people from training (known as Barriers to Learning). During the week you will be asked to make contact with training providers in your area and make some enquiries and also call the Learndirect help line 0800 100 900.Week 2On the second week of the course you will share your workplace report findings with the rest of the group and be shown how to add them onto the online database. You will then look at learning initiatives that have been set up to support membership education and prepare to conduct a learning needs analysis of your members.Week 3Week 3 looks at Basic Skills both as a group of training areas and a barrier to learning. If you have not already done so you will get the chance to take a basic skills assessment yourself to give you a taste of what is involved. As much of the basic skills material is covered by specific copyright outside of our control we are unable to publish it on the web site.Week 4On week 4 of the course you will look at the skills required to conduct a one to one interview with a member.This will give you the opportunity to put your interviewing forms to the test. You will then be shown how to access and search the Humberside On Course Database - this will be a key tools for you when providing course information to your members.Week 5On the final week of the course you will think about how you are going to make the learning rep's role work in your workplace. How will you plan and organise? You will also reflect on the course and think about your understanding of the job of a learning rep having looked at various things over the past four weeks. |
