UNISON NEW YORK PROJECT 2006

About the project

On November 19th 2001 the Hull Trade Union Studies Centre was re-launched as part of East Riding College in its new premises at St James Street. A key feature of the ceremony was a satellite link with trade union educators in New York. Since then the links have gone from strength to strength; there have been three exchange visits of union activists, two going to New York from the UK and one group from New York coming to Hull.

This international study project continues to build on the relationships that have developed. A group of Occupational Therapists, all Unison activists will be visiting New York from 19th to 25th March as part of a wider project. They will be researching various project topics to increase our understanding of potential change in the health service, union organisation, clinical standards and continuing professional development. Beside the week in New York the programme of work involves three months study at the Hull Trade Union Studies Centre and will result in a full report being published. The report will be available by the early autumn.
